As with the silver, this is a great balm for pain relief-our whole household uses them. The black version has been our go to for several years. I am the only one sensitive to strong smells during a migraine due to muscle spasms. I moved from the red to black and it was a huge relief. One day, my spouse brought home a new black balm and I went to use it and immediately became nauseous. When we compared the label- one said extra strength-which I could tolerate, but the newer version, I believe said xtra strength and was too strong in odor during my migraines, but fine on other areas or if I catch it before a migraine. Strangely, the Silver is the strongest version, but it doesn’t bother me as much. The rest of the family doesn’t have odor sensitivity like I do and can tolerate any of them on there neck. We are a family with a lot of autoimmune diseases and arthritis. Both of my sons in mid 30’s already suffer greatly from arthritis, so we take turns every day putting the balm on each other’s backs! Try out the mini sizes to find what works for you. We all prefer the balms, because of the ease of application. I have to use gloves to apply the lotion, because, unfortunately, I can’t get the smell on my hands during a particularly rough day with migraines.
